Frequently asked questions
How does Cookie Information “recover more data” compared to other CMPs?
Most CMPs stop collecting any data when a visitor says no to cookies. That protects privacy, but it also means you lose visibility into a large share of your traffic.
Cookie Information works differently. Together with our privacy-friendly analytics, we collect anonymous, non-personal data from visitors who don’t give consent. This data is fully anonymized – no IP addresses, device IDs, or other identifiers are stored.
The result:
- You still respect privacy and comply with GDPR and other laws.
- You see up to 4× more sessions in your reports compared to regular CMPs.
- You recover insights into traffic and performance that most banners simply block.
In other words, you protect privacy and compliance without losing your ability to measure what matters.
How does anonymous tracking work?
Anonymous tracking means collecting data in a way that makes it impossible to identify an individual visitor. For non-consenting visitors, we mask all identifiers (like IP addresses, login details, or device IDs) and only collect anonymous signals such as session events or country-level location.
Depending on your setup, you can:
Or avoid cookies and session data altogether.
Track sessions with short-lived cookies (30 minutes).
Use session hashes (based on technical attributes like browser or OS).
Is anonymous tracking privacy compliant?
When data is fully anonymized, it is not considered personal data under GDPR. That means:
- You don’t need consent to process it.
- It can usually be stored and exported without extra safeguards.
- You remain compliant while still learning from every visit.
So if you set up your anonymous tracking properly, it should be considered privacy compliant.
This way, you avoid the “all or nothing” problem of traditional analytics – you keep valuable insights without crossing privacy lines.
Do I need to switch from my current analytics provider?
No. You can keep using tools like GA4, Adobe Analytics, or others. Cookie Information Analytics can run side-by-side to verify your existing data and recover insights from users who opt out of cookies.
How does the free trial work?
You start the trial by filling out the registration form at the top of this page.
You’ll get a confirmation email – just click the link to verify your account and set your password. After that, you can log in and follow a short guided onboarding to help you set up your account.
The free trial lasts for 30 days, and you can upgrade to a paid subscription at any time.
What happens when my free trial ends?
As the end of your trial approaches, we’ll remind you to make a decision.
If you haven’t upgraded by the end of the 30 days, your account will be deactivated – but you’ll still have 7 more days to upgrade
After that, your account and data will be permanently deleted.
Can I change to a different plan at a later point?
Yes, but not during your current subscription period. You can switch plans when your billing cycle ends – whether that’s monthly or yearly.
For example, if you’re on an annual plan, you can choose a different plan when it’s time to renew, but not in the middle of the year.
If you’re unsure about timing or costs, our team is happy to walk you through the details.
What are actions?
An action is any tracked activity on your site or app, whether it comes from the cookie banner or analytics.
Examples include:
- Page views
- Cookie banner interactions (consents given or declined)
- Clicks
- Outlinks (clicks leading to an external site)
- Site searches
- Custom events you define
- Goal completions
- Loading a tag manager container
- Loading a consent manager window
- API requests
Every tracked event counts as one action toward your monthly total.
How will I know how many actions I’ve used?
Log in to your account, open the menu, and navigate to Administration > Account > Subscription to get an overview of how many actions you’ve used.
What do you mean by domain(s)?
A domain is any unique website address or subdomain where you display the cookie banner and run scans.
Examples:
- example.com = 1 domain
- blog.example.com = 1 domain
Each domain you add and monitor counts toward the domain limit included in your plan.
What happens if I exceed my limits for actions and/or domains?
If you go over the limits in your plan – for example, by tracking more actions or adding extra domains – we’ll charge an overage fee based on your pricing plan. We calculate and invoice overages at the end of each billing cycle.
If the overages are frequent or significant, your subscription may be automatically upgraded to a higher plan that better fits your usage.
What if I keep using the service after going over my limits?
If you continue using the service after exceeding your limits, we’ll consider that as acceptance of the overage fees or the upgraded plan. Either way, you’ll be billed accordingly.
Is there a limit to how many consents I can collect?
Yes. In the Cookie banner + Analytics plan, consents count as actions, so the number of consents you can collect depends on the monthly action limit in your plan.
Can the pricing change?
Yes, subscription fees may change over time.
- Prices are automatically adjusted by 4% every year on your subscription anniversary.
- We may also update our pricing at other times, but we’ll always give you at least 30 days’ notice.
- If you add new domains or apps during your current billing period, we’ll charge you a pro-rated amount for the rest of the term. After that, they’ll be part of your regular subscription.
Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 30 days before the end of the current term.
Do I need to provide credit card details to start my trial?
No, you don’t have to provide credit card details to start your trial.
Credit card details are only needed for when you subscribe to a paid plan – either during or after your trial.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept the following payment methods:
- Credit card (default option)
- Bank transfer (yearly billing only, available upon request)
We cover all transaction fees for credit card payments. For bank transfers, you’ll need to cover any transaction costs.
You can change your payment method through your account settings or by getting in touch with us.
